Platz brings us two pieces of a JASDF/JMSDF UH-60J kit in a sea camouflage/rescue paint design. The UH-60J is a rescue helicopter operated by the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force and Air Self Defense Force. It was developed as a successor to the JMSDF's S-61 and the JASDF's V107. It was a licensed domestic production based on the UH-60 Black Hawk developed by Sikorsky. The UH-60J has been operated in Japan since 1991. It's equipped with two T700IHI-401C turboshaft engines, with a maximum speed of 140 knots and a range of about 1,295km. It is also equipped with infrared night-vision equipment and terrain-following radar for high all-weather capability. In addition, the Japan Ground Self Defense Force has been using the UH-60J as a multipurpose helicopter since 1997.
This model kit will be about 11cm long when completed; parts for two helicopters are included. The characteristic airframe shape is accurately reproduced by dividing the nose on the left and right sides of the fuselage. The door panel lines on both sides are also indicated for accuracy. The landing gear and rotor are reproduced with separate parts, and silkscreened decals by Cartograf for three versions are included:
