The author of this book, William Andrew Loomis (1892-1959), was a prominent illustrator in the United States, and was also famous as a leader in art education. His book "Successful Drawing" was translated and published in Japan in 1989 under the title "First Illustration Class." The publisher of that book was disbanded in 2011, and the book disappeared from bookstores. This is a new translation of the original book.
Loomis introduces his "Five Ps" and "Five Cs" of good drawing in this book. The "Five Ps" are Proportion, Placement, Perspective, Planes and Pattern; the "Five Cs" are Conception (concept), Construction, Contour, Character (individuality) and Consistency. These ideas are all explained thoroughly and clearly, with plentiful examples. Any aspiring or established artist would find this book incredibly useful! Order yours today!
