The German Navy battleship Bismarck was laid down in July 1936, launched in February 1939, and put into service in August 1940. She was named after Otto von Bismarck, the driving force behind the unification of Germany. On May 24, 1941, the Bismarck and the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen were advancing through the Denmark Strait; the battleships Hood and Prince of Wales approached from the south, and the Battle of the Denmark Strait began. The Bismarck sunk the Hood, and the Prince of Wales then departed; the Bismarck, however, was hit and sustained damage to her fuel tank. She split off from the Prinz Eugen and sailed alone toward France, but was ambushed within days by British forces; badly damaged, the decision was made to scuttle her, but torpedo strikes finished the job and she sank within five minutes.

This model kit from Flyhawk comes complete with photo-etched parts, metal barrels, copper wires and resin parts. Order yours today!
