The Type 42 Sheffield Class is the Royal Navy's guided-missile destroyer, built from the 1970s to the 1980s and active until the 2000s. It was developed with the main mission of air defense of the fleet; a total of 14 ships from Batches 1 to 3 were built and deployed. The first ship, H.M.S. Sheffield, was commissioned in 1975; the final ship in its class was commissioned in 1985. The overall length of Batch 1 and 2 was 125m, and it was extended to 141m for Batch 3. It was equipped with two gas-turbine engines and a COGOG propulsion system; it had a maximum speed of 30 knots. Armaments included one 55-caliber 114mm single gun, one Sea Dart GWS.30 SAM anti-aircraft missile double launcher, STWS Mk.1 and three triple single torpedo launchers. Seven of this class of ship participated in the Falklands War that broke out in 1982. H.M.S. Sheffield and H.M.S. Glasgow were able to resolve the conflict, although th Sheffield was sunk under the attack of an Argentine air-to-ground missile.

This model kit reproduces the H.M.S. Type 42 destroyer, and is a 3-in-1 type that can be assembled as any one of the Type 1, Type 2 or Type 3 variations. Each one clearly expresses the differences, such as the shape, the delicate details of the superstructure such as the bridge and mast, and more. The missiles installed on the deck and the turret of the 114mm cannon are also firmly modeled, creating a three-dimensional effect on the details of the deck. Photo-etched parts are included for antennas, handrails and more; an in-scale model of the Westland Lynx shipboard helicopter is also included. Decals by Cartograf are included, with numbers for each ship. Order yours now!
