The shortage of the armored personnel carriers in the Russian Army gave rise to the inventive way of carrying infantry on the engine deck of the tank. Actually, many armies did this, but the Russian way was very distinctive. In most armies, infantry would get off the tank, away from the battlefield, before the firing started. Though the Russians took their infantry directly onto the battlefield, they jumped from the deck as soon as the first shot was fired -- the "Tank Descent". In this way, the Russians succeded in bringing infantry directly onto the enemy's position and could occupy it the position quickly; but their casualties were numerous as a result. Dragon's new kit is designed for use with the T-34/85 as shown on the box art. There are six figures in quilted winter uniform, riding on the back of the tank. The molds are very fine, to be expected from Dragon. Not only are the famous PPSH-41 sub-machine guns and the Degtyarev LMG included, but Mosin-Nagan rifles with and without bayonets are included as well. Included head gears are helmets, fur caps and service caps. This set would be very useful for late WWII dioramas -- such as the final push for Berlin..
