In the 1980s, twelve Hatsuyuki-class destroyers employed the JMSDF's first all-gas turbine engine, and were put into service as general-purpose escorts capable of carrying helicopters. Six of these ships have already retired, and four more have become training ships, but the ninth ship, the Matsuyuki, which was commissioned in 1986, is still active as an escort ship.
This kit can be built as either a full-hull or waterline version; it includes photo-etched parts to reproduce the Matsuyuki's most current appearance, with satellite antennas and truss masts. An SH-60J anti-submarine patrol helicopter is included, as are decals for training ships: Hatsuyuki, Mineyuki, Sawayuki, Hamayuki, Isoyuki, and Matsuyuki. The photo-etched parts include the ORN-6C, mast, yard, OPS-14 antenna, OPS-18 antenna, floating ring, deck, flagpole, bulwark and more. Order yours today!
